Prior
to undertaking work on each damaged door
at Lakeport,
historic building craftsman Ronnie
Walker
conducted a complete assessment, then
developed a restoration plan. In
all cases,
care was taken to retain as much of the
original fabric as possible.
Consolidants and wood putty were used to
repair wood deterioration and damaged
surfaces, repairs were made using early
techniques, and missing moldings were
re-created using
hand tools and wood planes from the
period in which the house was built.
After repairs, surfaces were brought
back smooth to accept re-created
original faux finishes.
