The Old Lakeport Cemetery is one of three African-American burial grounds associated with the Lakeport area.  Arkansas State University graduate student Aketa Guillory has worked with community members and descendants of enslaved laborers and tenant farmers buried in the cemeteries to record their memories and identify unmarked graves.  In conjunction with the Lakeport Grand Opening, a Memorial Service was organized by the Lakeport Cemetery Committee to remember those buried at Old Lakeport Cemetery, Lakeport Cemetery (known locally as the "cemetery in the middle of the field") and Morning Star Cemetery.
